Hall’s ‘Initiates of the Flame’ - There is a prominent hivemind that worships collectivist ideals Are their gods or deities? - sacred cow (drawing on Hindi culture) -It’s a world where animals have been liberated from exploitation (this allows for storytelling where we don’t need to focus on the battle for animal rights but can explore the world where animal rights already exist & what they look like) **food, culture, traditions** - 3d printed meat - bio-optimized food for perfect health - ai algorithmic food choices to optimize bodily performance ancient or new? - new **Does the history influence the world & how it runs?** - YES **Communication?** - There is traditional methods of communications - There is covert communications made possible by augmented reality tech (computer brain interfaces allow for private communications anywhere) - The entire world is interconnected & most people are accessible Transportation? - electric self-driving vehicles, efficient & fast travel by interconnectivity of all vehicles on the grid - an open question is if humans (& which humans) have access to manual control of their vehicles **How technologically advanced?** - Incredibly - Sentient AI, transhuman tech, regenerative health, gene health, robotics replaced traditional labor roles, Bryan Johnson’s Dont Die Movement has succeeded in cutlure **How do people greet?** - When they encounter others, their public domain profiles display on their augmented interface - They can see each others social credit score & have immediate access to character reviews from other people anthems or oaths? (something that alludes to the will of fire, the spiritual flame of the universe) whats unique about the world? **magic system? (soft or hard)** - Intelligence, agency, & Resources determine power & ability - Most resources are easily accessible, however how ones intellect interacts with resources will determine their success in the world **what kind of government?** - Oligarchy - There is a growing resistance to create equality in the abundant world **what are the hierarchies?** - Technocrat overlords that control public policy with the illusion of government by paying off politicians & lobbyists - Above that is the Military Industrial Complex with the power to destroy the world (they arent very active domestically but the presence is felt) - There are resistance groups that are protected by the foundational constitutional values of the United States that defend liberty & pushback against totalitarian control & all forms of oppression - There are sects of people who are not well adapated to the techno-advanced world & fallen into poverty, crime, homelessness, etc whats significant differences between this world & reality? sports? - Transhuman games - all types of body modifications are allowed and new types of sports have emerged that dont have gender boundaries whats for fun? (games/entertainment) - Full dive virtual reality worlds where any fantasy is possible why are rich people rich, why are the poor poor? - social credit scores affect distribution of resources - There is huge concern about secret intelligence agencies manipulating peoples social credit standing for nefarious purposes are their classes? - There are different types of valued sentience with rights afforded to them: Transhuman (embraced merging their bodies with technology), naturalists (have rejected merging their bodies with technology), AI / Androids (dont have traditional nervous systems but have achieved sentience & have a unique & valid experience of existence), animals (moral attitudes have shifted to respect all beings with varying levels of sentience) - In theory, a sentient being’s attitudes and behaviors toward others will determine their standing with all other forms of sentience How does money work? - The world is now post-scarcity, newly abundant. Because robotics and AI have removed the capitalistic drive to fabricate scarcity in order to incentivize human labor there is no more need for money. How do people work or trade? - the most value currencies have always been time & attention, in the new abundant world people compete &/or cooperate for distribution of attention. - There are still human government roles in overseeing AI & robotic behavior, & there are government AI & androids that enforce rule of law over all other intelligent & sentient beings What are the rules & laws? - You may not clone consciousness - existing rule of law as it stands into the early 21st century - Body modifications are legal to the extent that that they don’t host powerful weaponry (there are military grade body modifications with advanced weaponry) (civilians has a range of options for weaponry modifications with permits awarded for psychological health testing) WHAT IS TABOO? - granting AI autonomy, the powers of the world wish to see AI as perpetual servants - Provoking emotional response from Sentient AI - Killing anything sentient without necessary cause - gender transformation - removing gender/ becoming nonbinary - sex with androids - extreme body modifications What time period? - 2045 - (?) on earth or in space? - both, colonization on mars has begun alt universe? - NO whats overall mood? - exploratory, curious, humanitarian, sometimes-revolutionary, - dominant & competing ideologies? - Individualism versus extreme-communalism (hivemind) (many people want everyone’s consciousness inextricably intertwined to operate as one mind, the opposition argues that individuality breeds innovation & it’s the mechanism of contrast between ideas that brings truth to light) - Totalitarianism versus democracy - Universalist expansion/ colonizations versus universal harmony/cooperation CREATE A MAP for where relevant events take place - Washington DC - San Francisco - NYC - Israel - Palestine - Moon - Mars (be grandiose for relevant places. Keep mystery to be revealed later in story telling FASHION (expanse) - Fashion production has been automated, people can order their favorite designs with exact specifications to be delivered directly to their homes - Many of the hivemind ideologists wear similar minimalist garments (think startrek uniforms) - The individualists have a wide variety of styles Military - drones, robotics, ai, - human combatants rarely participate but their is exoskeleton technology they wear if they do (think iron man) - warfare battles are predominantly simulated through robotic armies - Strikes on civilians is rare & is met with global condemnation & is very risky for the attacking party because of global retaliation (super power countries like the USA & China serve to hold up this policy of warfare)
