Just as nature tests adaptations on individual organisms, our framework validates progress through `Units` - the individual instances of a product undergoing testing and measurement.
## What is a Unit?
A Unit is any trackable instance of your product:
- **Physical**: Individual chips on a wafer
- **Digital**: User sessions in your app
- **Hybrid**: IoT device installations
- **Service**: Customer journey instances
## Key Characteristics
1. **State Management**
- Units can fail or succeed.
- Incomplete units provide valuable data.
- Example: A user who doesn't complete signup is still a measurable unit.
2. **Hierarchical Tracking**
- Units can contain other units (wafer → chips).
- Units can transform (lead → customer).
- Complete lineage preservation.
Units are where evolution happens:
1. Each unit provides evolutionary feedback.
2. Failed units inform improvement.
3. Successful units validate changes.
4. Aggregate data drives decisions.By Eduarda Ferreira
